We're Off Again!
So we're off to a foreign land. Hiking and camping near the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Sandwiched between the High Atlas and the Sahara, the remote mountain region of Jebel Sahro is the perfect destination for a winter sunshine trek. Flying to Ouarzazate on the south side of the Atlas takes us directly into a ruggedly beautiful, semi-desert world. Our 10-day trek takes us into the heart of the Jebel Sahro, amongst rocky peaks and plateau and through occasional green oases, where we find the red mud-built villages of the Berber people. Following quiet trails through a variety of spectacular scenery, we also have the option to trek to the summit of the highest peak in the range, Amalou n’Mansour (2712m./8895ft.). During this season, with warm days and crystal clear visibility, the views northwards to the sparkling snow-capped peaks of the Atlas are quite magnificent. An exciting drive across the High Atlas to the souks and snake-charmers of Marrakech provides a fitting conclusion to this classic Moroccan adventure. Checklist in Priority:
